Children's Hospital Association submitted comments on a legislative proposal by Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., aimed at understanding the risks and potential treatments for Long COVID. The proposal calls for $10 billion in mandatory funding over the next decade to establish a new Long COVID research program at the National Institutes of Health. The proposal includes an expedited clinical trial grant process to study Long COVID, as well as a Long COVID database and research advisory board. Our comments highlight the importance of enhancing pediatric research on Long COVID and educating health care providers on the unique impacts on children.
