The Children’s Hospital Association submitted public witness testimony to the House Appropriations Labor, Health and Human Services, Education and Related Agencies Subcommittee. The testimony, submitted April 16, asks Congress to prioritize funding for pediatric-focused programs, including our fiscal year 2027 requests regarding workforce, mental health, emergency preparedness, research, and safety.
CHA’s FY27 asks include:
- $1.02 billion for the Children’s Hospitals Graduate Medical Education (CHGME) program (HRSA)
- $30 million for the Pediatric Specialty Loan Repayment Program (PSLRP) (HRSA)
- $1.59 billion for Title VII and Title VIII health professions workforce programs (HRSA)
- $45 million for the Lorna Breen Health Care Provider Protection program (HRSA, NIOSH, CDC)
- $31 million for the Pediatric Mental Health Care Access program (HRSA)
- $24.334 million for the Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) Program (HRSA)
- $7 million for the Pediatric Disaster Care Program (PDCP) (ASPR)
- $51.303 million for the National Institutes of Health (NIH)
- $35 million for the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, $25 million for the National Institutes of Health, and $1 million for the National Institute of Justice to conduct public health research into firearm morbidity and mortality prevention (CDC, NIH, NIJ)
