Children’s Hospital Association Names New President

Paul R. Haut, MD, named as CHA president, effective Oct. 14, 2025.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Children’s Hospital Association (CHA) has named Paul R. Haut, MD, as president effective Oct. 14. Haut joins CHA with extensive experience in clinical, operational, and strategic environments as a pediatric oncologist, associate professor, and as chief medical officer and chief operating officer at Riley Children’s Health in Indiana.

Haut will focus on education and programming, including overall member experience, quality and patient safety, information technology, data analytics, and finance. In partnership with Matthew Cook, CEO of CHA, Haut will establish the association's strategic direction and priorities, implement short- and long-term objectives, and ensure the overall fiscal health of CHA.

“Paul’s diverse background as a pediatrician directing stem cell transplants, a medical professor, and as a hospital executive mean he is particularly suited to support CHA’s member hospitals,” said Matthew Cook, CEO of the Children’s Hospital Association. “Paul’s breadth of knowledge and deep understanding of the challenges our hospitals face are invaluable to our work at CHA, and we look forward to growing the association with his support.”

After a 20-year tenure at Riley Children’s Health, Haut served as an associate professor of pediatrics at IU School of Medicine before becoming a certified professional leadership coach and opening the firm, PRHaut Leadership.

“I look forward to joining the CHA team and helping advance every facet of our amazing children’s hospitals,” Dr. Haut said. “CHA’s member hospitals are filled with dedicated professionals—providers, hospital staff, pharmacy technicians, and others—who work tirelessly to deliver exceptional care to every child. It is a privilege to become part of CHA at such a pivotal moment for pediatric care.”

Haut graduated from Brown University with a degree in political science before earning a medical degree from the University of Arkansas College of Medicine. He completed his fellowship in hematology and oncology at Children’s Memorial Hospital/Northwestern University, which is now recognized as Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago.
