WASHINGTON, DC – Children’s Hospital Association (CHA) has named Aisha B. Furbach as the new vice president of child health quality. Furbach has a background in nursing and law and brings extensive experience in clinical quality, patient safety, and regulatory compliance to CHA.

In her capacity as vice president of child health quality, Furbach will work closely with CHA member hospitals to implement effective quality strategies, focusing on safe, timely, efficient, and equitable care. Her leadership will support CHA's goal of driving innovation in pediatric health care quality and supporting hospitals in the improvement of child health and health outcomes.

“Aisha's early career as a neonatal intensive care nurse laid the foundation for a lifelong dedication to improving child health,” said Torey Mack, MD, Chief Quality and Solutions Officer, CHA. “Her unique blend of clinical expertise and proven leadership in quality improvement initiatives makes her the ideal choice to propel CHA's quality focused mission forward.”

Prior to joining CHA, Furbach was the system vice president of quality and patient safety and chief compliance officer at a health system in Portland, OR, where she led large-scale quality projects aimed at improving outcomes, safety, and clinical efficiency. Additionally, she served on the board of Albertina Kerr, supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Furbach previously served as the quality executive for two local hospitals in Maryland, where she worked to reduce patient harm and improve CMS quality measures.

“Joining CHA offers a unique opportunity to impact child health quality on a national scale,” said Furbach. “I look forward to working with the CHA team and our member hospitals to improve health care outcomes for children.”

A native of Washington, D.C., Furbach earned her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Emory University and a law degree from the University of Connecticut. Prior to working in health care quality, she served as a neonatal intensive care nurse.
