Former U.S. House Representative Jaime Herrera Beutler Joins Children’s Hospital Association as Strategic Advisor

Herrera Beutler will offer strategic insight on key issues for children’s hospitals.

Washington, DC – Today, former U.S. House Representative Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Wash., joins Children’s Hospital Association (CHA) as a strategic advisor for children’s hospitals and health. Herrera Beutler will offer strategic insight on key issues for children’s hospitals and health systems and the children and families they serve. Medicaid investments, the youth behavioral health crisis, pediatric workforce and the care of children with complex medical conditions are key priorities for CHA.

“I am thrilled to be joining Children’s Hospital Association as a strategic advisor. We face unprecedented challenges for health care in America, and I look forward to working alongside the experts in children’s hospitals to seek improvements in health care for all children. No one deserves our efforts more than our nation’s children,” said Herrera Beutler.

During Herrera Beutler’s tenure in Congress, children and health care were at the forefront of her legislative priorities. Herrera Beutler served on the House Appropriations Committee, where she was ranking member of the subcommittee on Legislative Branch, member of the Joint Economic Committee, and a leading voice in health, energy and financial services subcommittees. She also became the ninth woman in history to give birth while serving in Congress and did so three times. Herrera Beutler’s firsthand knowledge as a parent and advocate for a child with medical complexities brings a critical insight and real-life perspective to the pursuit of solutions for child health in the United States.

“Children are facing a myriad of obstacles in accessing needed care. We welcome Jaime and are eager to add her insights and expertise in advancing the bipartisan advocacy efforts of children’s hospitals,” said Mark Wietecha, CEO of CHA.

Herrera Beutler was first elected to the 112th congress and served in the House of Representatives from 2011-2023. For 12 years, she proudly served the people of Washington’s 3rd congressional district. Prior to Congress, Herrera Beutler was a member of the Washington State House of Representatives from 2007-2010. She and her husband Dan have three children.
