On Thursday, May 5, eleven Senate Democrats sent a letter to Secretary Sylvia Burwell of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The letter urges HHS to use regulatory authority to go beyond the current benchmark approach and create a standardized, national definition for what is included in the tenth Essential Health Benefit (EHB) category of "pediatric services, including oral and vision care" under the Affordable Care Act.
CHA supported targeted outreach to senators and thanks Sen. Schatz (D-HI) and all the co-signers for their advocacy on behalf of pediatric-appropriate coverage.
