The Children’s Hospital Association submitted a letter to Senate leaders, asking them to protect Medicaid for children as they consider the budget reconciliation bill.

The letter outlines the Medicaid cuts in H.R. 1, the House of Representative’s version of the bill, that would have broad implications for the program and the children and families who rely on it.

Children’s hospitals see more Medicaid patients than other types of hospitals, with half of their patients relying on the program for their health insurance coverage. In some cases, as many as 70-80% of children’s hospital patients are covered by Medicaid. That’s why Medicaid support is so critical to children’s hospitals’ ability to offer a variety of specialized services and support programs to all children.
