In 2020, CHA offered for the first time an affinity group for children’s hospital leaders in community health and community benefit. The group’s participants represent strategy, program development, implementation, evaluation, and reporting roles within their institution.
Value:
- Timely presentations deliver peer and industry expertise.
- Nine virtual sessions covered topics such as program evaluation, mental and behavioral health, anchor mission strategies, community development, and COVID-19 impact on communities.
- Affinity Group network solidifies ad-hoc professional relationships.
- In addition to participant-fostered connections, CHA facilitated targeted pairings between 18 affinity group hospitals and offered profile data for benchmarking and understanding.
- Peer exchange becomes critical support during unprecedented community health crisis.
- The group’s closed discussion list covered 20+ topics of interest, including: COVID response, community benefit tracking, youth pipeline development programs and medical-legal partnerships.
- On demand library provides key resources when they are needed.
- A document library includes Community Health Needs Assessments (CHNA) and Implementation Strategy Reports, “How To” guides and expert guidance on COVID-19 and Community Benefit.
