FY 2020 CHGME Appropriations Resources

Children's hospitals are urged to ask lawmakers to support strengthened funding for the Children's Hospitals Graduate Medical Education (CHGME) program. The current level of support provided for training kids' doctors through CHGME is only half that provided per trainee in the Medicare GME program. Sustaining pediatric training programs at children’s hospitals requires bolstering our national commitment. That's why we are asking Congress to strengthen federal investments in CHGME by working towards a program fully funded at comparable GME per-trainee levels to help ensure a strong foundation for children's health care across the country and into the future. As a step towards this goal, we are asking that Congress provide $400 million for CHGME in FY 2020.

Please reach out to congressional offices and ask them to submit funding requests in support of CHGME funding of $400 million for FY 2020. The House Labor-HHS Subcommittee's deadline is March 28. We are still awaiting a Senate deadline.
