CHA Concerned About Impacts of SAMHSA Cuts on Children’s Health
WASHINGTON, D.C. — In response to the news that nearly $2 billion in congressionally appropriated grant funding from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration will be cut, Children’s Hospital Association CEO Matthew Cook released the following statement:
“In the midst of a youth mental health crisis, we are deeply concerned about cuts to grant funding from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) that fund vital programs to support kids’ health. Children’s hospitals alongside community partners nationwide provide vital mental health services including suicide prevention, trauma-informed care for children, substance use disorder treatment for adolescents and postpartum women, and other critical programming for families facing mental health challenges. We are eager to work with the administration to ensure children and families can access the support they need.”
