CHA Applauds HHS’ Funding Boost for Childhood Cancer Research, Urges Further Action
WASHINGTON, D.C. – In response to the Department of Health and Human Services’ action to double funding for the Childhood Cancer Data Initiative at the National Cancer Institute, Children’s Hospital Association (CHA) CEO Matthew Cook released the following statement:
“At CHA, we advocate for our nation’s children’s hospitals so that every child and family can access the resources they need to thrive into adulthood. This week’s announcement that HHS will double funding for the Childhood Cancer Data Initiative demonstrates that the administration shares our commitment to providing top-notch care for children with cancer and other rare diseases.
"This funding increase is an important step toward developing better treatments and cures for children with cancer, but there is more to do. We encourage policymakers and leaders in the children's health care space to do all they can to keep investing in better research, innovation, and patient care for children and adolescents with cancer and we look forward to working with the Trump administration to ensure every child can access the care they need.”
