CHA Statement on Budget Reconciliation Bill

The budget includes significant cuts to Medicaid and will detrimentally impact children across the nation.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Ahead of House consideration of the FY 26 budget reconciliation package, Children’s Hospital Association President and CEO Matthew Cook released the following statement:

“We remain concerned about the impact the Medicaid cuts in this bill will have on children and children’s hospitals. For reference, nearly half of American children rely on Medicaid and CHIP, and this bill will significantly reduce Medicaid support and negatively impact health care access for millions of children, regardless of whether they’re covered by Medicaid programs or private insurance. We urge the House to vote against the bill and protect high-quality pediatric health care for all children who need it.”
