Improving Pediatric Sepsis Outcomes (IPSO), a 57-hospital quality improvement (QI) collaborative, established core QI definitions, identified primary drivers for improved outcomes and developed measures to track improvement.

Learn from IPSO’s experience in large-scale QI from authors of three foundational collaborative publications.

Learning objectives

Upon completion of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the seven key drivers for improvement in sepsis outcomes and care processes.
  • Examine the strengths, weaknesses and utility of the IPSO sepsis definitions.
  • Identify optimal variables and measures for large-scale sepsis QI efforts while balancing automated extraction from the electronic health record.
