2023 Family Advocacy Day

2023 Family Advocacy Day

June 20 - 22, 2023

Advocacy Event

About This Event

Elevating patient stories and educating lawmakers about the unique role of children's hospitals remains critical to increase awareness about the ongoing and essential care provided by children's hospitals.

As a result, we are offering an engaging in-person event, the 2023 Children's Hospital Association's Family Advocacy Day, on June 20-22. Patient families will represent their children's hospitals while engaging with lawmakers to increase awareness about and advance public policy priorities that address:

  • Timely access to doctors and other professionals trained to meet the unique health care needs of children.
  • The vital role Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) play in families' lives, providing health insurance to nearly half of all children.
  • The mental, emotional and behavioral health emergency that children and teens are facing.

Program Highlights

Family Advocacy Day kicks off on June 20, with optional tours of Washington D.C.

On June 21, breakfast and lunch will be provided at the hotel for all attendees. Throughout the day, families can participate in an interactive advocate training for all ages to prepare for legislative visits the next day. Families will also have a chance to participate in hill meetings and in video interviews to share their impactful stories. That evening, we are planning a fun dinner celebration, including music and other family-friendly entertainment for attendees to enjoy.

On June 22, attendees will head to Capitol Hill to meet with federal legislators and their staff. Lunch will be provided to attendees on Capitol Hill.

Registration Portal

The registration portal and hotel/event registration are to be used by hospital staff only. Hospital staff can register all family members participating in the event. The portal also collects information on hospital staff associated with the family.

Families registered by Wednesday, April 5, will receive a Family Advocacy Day t-shirt and trading cards for the child patient. Hospitals will receive customized materials that can be used for advocacy efforts. We cannot guarantee t-shirts and trading cards for those registered after the deadline.

Hospital Staff Registration

Hospital staff can register using CHA's event registration page. This is a different website from the portal and must be filled out according to CHA event membership protocols.

Hotel Registration

All hotel reservations need to be made before the hotel's deadline of Friday, May 26. Please use the room block link on the JW Marriott website to secure the bookings for yourself and your FAD family.
