About This Event
Elevating patient stories and educating lawmakers about the unique role of children's hospitals remains critical to increase awareness about the ongoing and essential care provided by children's hospitals.
As a result, we are offering an engaging in-person event, the 2023 Children's Hospital Association's Family Advocacy Day, on June 20-22. Patient families will represent their children's hospitals while engaging with lawmakers to increase awareness about and advance public policy priorities that address:
- Timely access to doctors and other professionals trained to meet the unique health care needs of children.
- The vital role Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) play in families' lives, providing health insurance to nearly half of all children.
- The mental, emotional and behavioral health emergency that children and teens are facing.
Program Highlights
Family Advocacy Day kicks off on June 20, with optional tours of Washington D.C.
On June 21, breakfast and lunch will be provided at the hotel for all attendees. Throughout the day, families can participate in an interactive advocate training for all ages to prepare for legislative visits the next day. Families will also have a chance to participate in hill meetings and in video interviews to share their impactful stories. That evening, we are planning a fun dinner celebration, including music and other family-friendly entertainment for attendees to enjoy.
On June 22, attendees will head to Capitol Hill to meet with federal legislators and their staff. Lunch will be provided to attendees on Capitol Hill.
