Meet Banks: A Nationwide Children’s Hospital Champion

During Family Advocacy Day, Banks and his family will discuss his health journey, Nationwide Children’s Hospital’s role in providing him with necessary care, and why we must invest in the future of patients like Banks.

Bailie, Banks’ mother, went into labor prematurely at 24 weeks and six days gestation.

“The OBGYN asked us where we wanted Banks to be transported,” says Bailie. “We simply responded, ‘The best hospital possible.’ We then found out he would be going to Nationwide Children's Hospital.”

Banks’ parents settled into Ronald McDonald House for several months while Banks was monitored and cared for at Nationwide Children’s.

“Banks’ dad, Talon, went back home, 2 hours away, during the week to work,” says Bailie. “He was only able to be with us on the weekends.”

Once Banks grew strong enough, he was sent home from Nationwide Children’s Hospital. They continued to follow up with various specialty clinics for six years but have finally been cleared from care.

“Since day one, social workers at Nationwide helped us navigate all the resources available,” says Bailie.

Today, Banks is thriving. He loves to play football and video games, and spend time with friends.
