Joining the Pediatric Obesity Weight Evaluation Registry (POWER)

The Pediatric Obesity Weight Evaluation Registry (POWER) is an outgrowth of the Association’s initiative FOCUS on a Fitter Future, a multi-disciplinary collaborative convened to study clinical pediatric weight management programs and build censuses on practice improvement. POWER has completed a retrospective study that included over 7,000 patients from 13 children’s hospital-based pediatric weight management programs and began a prospective registry in 2014.

Currently the POWER project, led by PI Shelley Kirk, PhD, RD, LD at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC), has enrolled 33 sites representing 22 states with data collected on demographics, clinical data (anthropometrics, laboratory measures and blood pressure), and program-specific variables (visit type/format and visit provider).
