Elevating patient stories and educating lawmakers about the unique role of children's hospitals will remain critical toward increasing awareness about the ongoing and essential care provided by children's hospitals during the COVID-19 pandemic.
As a result, we are again offering an innovative event, 2021 Speak Now for Kids Family Advocacy Week, from June 13-18, 2021. Patient families will represent their children's hospitals to engage with lawmakers—either by video conference or in-person as appropriate—to increase awareness about and advance public policy priorities to address:
- The mental, emotional and behavioral health crisis in children, many of whom also struggle with medical conditions
- How children's hospitals are striving to continue providing care during the COVID-19 pandemic
- Necessary short- and long-term investments in children's health and health care delivery that government leaders need to make
