Elevating patient stories and educating lawmakers about the unique role of children's hospitals will remain critical toward increasing awareness about the ongoing and essential care provided by children's hospitals during the COVID-19 pandemic.
As a result, we are offering an innovative event, 2020 Speak Now for Kids Family Advocacy Week, from August 10-14, 2020. Patient families will represent their children's hospitals to engage with lawmakers in their states and districts—either by video conference or in-person as appropriate—to increase awareness about and advance public policy priorities to address:
- Challenges that existed for accessing and providing children's health care even before COVID-19 spread across the United States
- The tremendous sacrifices of children's hospitals during the pandemic and how our hospitals are striving to continue providing care in this difficult environment
- Necessary short- and long-term investments in children's health that government leaders need to make
