Antimicrobial Stewardship Programs in Freestanding Children's Hospitals

This study published January 1, 2015 in Pediatrics compared antibiotic prescribing rates in a group of pediatric hospitals with formalized antimicrobial stewardship programs (ASPs) to a group of control hospitals without formalized programs. Findings suggest formalized antimicrobial stewardship programs in children’s hospitals are effective in reducing antibiotic prescribing.
