Advancing a Healthy Hospital Initiative

Advancing a Healthy Hospital Initiative Cover ImageChildhood obesity is a multifaceted problem. While no one particular entity or policy is responsible for fixing this epidemic, children’s hospitals have an obligation to enable children and their families to achieve optimum health in an environment that delivers appropriate care and models wellness. Advancing a Healthy Hospital Initiative is the latest tool from the Children's Hospital Association to help hospitals improve their environment.

This publication highlights recommendations from FOCUS on a Fitter Future to help children's hospitals advance a healthy hospital environment for patients, families and employees by: identifying and treating patients with obesity, establishing a safe hospital environment and creating a healthy hospital environment.

Advancing a Healthy Hospital Initiative can help children’s hospitals set the standard in wellness and position themselves as leaders in the fight against pediatric overweight and obesity.
