Children's Hospitals Congratulate Trump Nominee Alex Azar
Washington, D.C. — Children’s hospitals congratulate Alex Azar on his nomination as the new secretary for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Azar will need to be approved by the Senate before taking the helm of HHS during this critical time in health care.
Azar has a long-standing government career as a leader on health issues, first as HHS General Counsel, and then as HHS Deputy Secretary. His ample experience within the department will serve him well as secretary, as will his many years working privately in the biopharmaceutical and health insurance industries. In his position as Secretary of HHS, he will oversee 11 agencies, including the National Institutes of Health and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
On behalf of our nation’s children’s hospitals and the patients and families they serve, the Children’s Hospital Association looks forward to working with Azar to ensure that all children across the country have the coverage, access and care they need.
