Washington, D.C. — The Children’s Hospital Association welcomes the official confirmation of Seema Verma as Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Verma’s nomination as Administrator was approved 55 to 43 by the full Senate yesterday evening.
Before stepping into her national position, Verma played a prominent role in Indiana health care policy where, as a health care consultant, she worked with then Gov. Mike Pence on the Healthy Indiana Plan. At the helm of CMS, Verma will oversee Medicaid, Medicare and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP).
Children’s hospitals look forward to working with Administrator Verma to ensure Medicaid and CHIP continue to provide the pediatric-specific benefits that children need to grow and thrive.
