Most people don't know: I love to doodle! I keep different colored pens around and frequently draw during meetings. It's a great energy-expender.

Idea of happiness: A hike or walk in the mountains; it renews my soul.

Motto: We may not be perfect, but we can always be excellent.

Traits you value in a colleague: I'm always inspired by a dedication to help others develop and reach their full potential. That is one of the most important roles a leader can play in any organization and the ripple effects are endless.

Describe your leadership style: Transformational, visionary and compassionate

Biggest influence: My daughters. Emily is a second-year medical student, and Katie is a junior in college pursuing a degree in math and education with a minor in music. They are talented, funny and thoughtful. Seeing them thrive underscores for me every day the importance of the work we do in children's health care.

Biggest fear: That we will fail a family and harm a child. This is what keeps me up at night.
