Due to technical problems at CMS, some children’s hospitals that completed the federal 2018 Essential Community Provider (ECP) Questionnaire may need to submit an updated or new questionnaire. Hospitals that did not submit a questionnaire are urged to do so before the new Oct. 15 deadline. CHA emailed all member hospitals on Sept. 23 with more information, including step-by-step instructions (please see PDF above) and preliminary data spreadsheets, to help them determine their status and next steps. Most children’s hospitals, including those in larger systems, and many children’s hospital outpatient clinics are ECPs under the ACA. It is important that every children’s hospital and their ECP outpatient facilities are correctly identified in the ECP database. The database is important for health plan oversight and CHA efforts to strengthen federal network adequacy standards.
