On Jan. 18, a group of organizations that promote child and maternal health sent a letter to the nation’s governors highlighting the importance of Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program and the need to “do no harm to children” in any changes to the nation’s health care landscape. The letter came ahead of a Jan. 19 roundtable at which Republican governors will meet with members of the Senate Finance Committee to discuss Medicaid and possible changes to the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Responses from the governors will play a critical role in shaping Medicaid policy during the 115th Congress.
The letter was sent by the Children’s Hospital Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Children’s Defense Fund, the Children’s Dental Health Project, Family Voices, First Focus, the March of Dimes, and the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners. The letter was sent to the National Governors Association, the Republican Governors Association and the Democratic Governors Association.
