The Children’s Hospital Association’s SCOPE Dialysis Collaborative is a proud partner of the Center for Disease Control’s (CDC) Making Dialysis Safer for Patients Coalition. The coalition includes diverse dialysis organizations that have joined forces to promote CDC’s core interventions and resources, which have been proven to prevent bloodstream infections among hemodialysis patients.
The coalition aims to:
- Facilitate implementation and adoption of core interventions through promotion, dissemination, and use of audit tools, checklists, and other resources
- Increase awareness of the core interventions for dialysis bloodstream infection prevention through educational efforts
- Share experiences and findings through collaboration with other coalition participants
CHA’s ongoing SCOPE Collaborative is well-aligned with the CDC’s core interventions and guidelines to reduce bloodstream infections among pediatric hemodialysis patients and partner with patients and families to achieve improved health outcomes. SCOPE has reduced infection rates successfully for this population through partnership and practice change.
In January 2017, the SCOPE physician faculty, Drs. Brad Warady and Alicia Neu, presented on the coalition’s first webinar, Tune in to Safe Health Care: Reducing Infection in the Outpatient Dialysis Facility – Results of the SCOPE Collaborative.
