The Senate passed an amended version of H.R. 6, the SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Act, on September 17. The bill now goes to conference. Several important pediatric provisions were included in the differing packages. In response to these differences, CHA sent a letter to the conferees this week asking for the continued inclusion of important provisions related to neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS), workforce initiatives for mental health and substance use disorder providers, trauma-informed care, poison control centers and telehealth services for children. The Association will continue to monitor and provide updates on the opioid efforts.
