Sustaining pediatric training programs at children's hospitals to meet the needs of children, now and in the future, requires bolstering our national commitment. The current level of support provided for training kids' doctors through the Children's Hospitals Graduate Medical Education (CHGME) program is only half that provided per trainee in the Medicare GME program. We are requesting Congress work towards a CHGME program fully funded at comparable GME per-trainee levels to help ensure a strong foundation for children's health care. As a step towards this goal, we are asking that Congress provide $465 million for CHGME in FY 2021.
Please reach out to congressional offices and ask them to submit programmatic funding requests in support of CHGME funding of $465 million for FY 2021. Resources to help you with these requests are highlighted above for your use.
