On June 13, CHA, as a member of the Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMH) Coalition, joined allied groups in endorsing Child and Adolescent Mental Health Principles. The principles outline five topic areas, for which the coalition identifies existing challenges and specific actionable opportunities to improve and enhance mental health services for children. Topics include:
- child and adolescent mental and behavioral health workforce (includes CHGME)
- insurance coverage and payment
- integration of mental and behavioral health into pediatric primary care
- early identification and intervention
- mental health parity
These updated principles build upon the set of principles the coalition sent to the Trump Administration transition team in December 2016. The original principles, approved in the past by members, outlined a similar set of challenges and opportunities to further child and adolescent mental health.
