Pearls and Pitfalls in the Recognition and Treatment of Pediatric Sepsis

Join us for a special event celebrating Sepsis Awareness Month! We are honored to have clinicians from Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and Seattle Children’s Hospital reprise their remarkable session from the Pacific Northwest Sepsis Conference! Presented in partnership with Sepsis Alliance, hear three perspectives on the clinical presentation, assessment and treatment of pediatric sepsis. The ability to recognize variances in the clinical presentation of sepsis between children and adults is critical to improving outcomes.

Dr. Scott Weiss will lead the audience in reviewing these variances and identifying differences in sepsis pathophysiology and outcomes between the two populations. Dr. Leslie Dervan and Clinical Nurse Specialist, Elaine Beardsley, will continue the discussion, by examining key steps in assessment and resuscitation workflows, including initial treatment, communication, and the application of goal-directed sepsis therapy to the pediatric population.

In addition, Dr. Dervan will share the principles of underlying hemodynamic and respiratory support, the importance of optimizing the “total package” of ICU care, and considerations for special populations in pediatrics. At the conclusion of the presentations, you are invited to stay for an extended question and answer session with our experts!
