Translational Research in Pediatric Sepsis: A Gateway to Precision Medicine?

Join Dr. Fran Balamuth, as she discusses recent advances in translational research in pediatric sepsis. She will begin with an introduction to precision medicine as well as discuss big data genomic techniques, or “omics.” Dr. Balamuth will then cover several strategies for biomarker based risk stratification in pediatric sepsis including transcriptional profiling, immune phenotyping, the microbiome, and mitochondrial dysfunction. Finally, she will discuss proposed methods of getting these techniques closer to the bedside.
