CHA Measures Selection Toolkit

Andrea Benin, MD, Senior Vice President, Quality and Patient Safety, Connecticut Children's Medical Center
Ann Greiner, Vice President Public Affairs, National Quality Forum
Sally Turbyville, MA, MS, DrPH, Senior Fellow, Quality Policy & Research, Children's Hospital Association

Description - CHA has a new tool kit for the systematic selection of measures for specific accountability programs.  This toolkit, based on industry best practices, identifies program requirements, defines criteria for appropriate measures, and queries a database of quality measures to find the best candidates. With these tools, we can build measure sets based on various use cases accompanied by measures, specify gaps and limitations of the measure set, and provide implementation guidance.

Learning Objectives:
• Understand the measure lifecycle, and challenges and limitations in measure selection nationally
• Understand the CHA toolkit and how it can support selection of measures for specific purposes, including gaps and limitations of the measure set, and guidance on implementation
• Understand the sources and current state of the CHA Measure Catalogue
• Understand how to use the CHA toolkit to learn from, complement and support existing measure sets by exploring a current real-life example
