The Preventing Youth Suicide: A Cardinal Health Foundation National Collaborative is the first of its kind with the intent to develop a pediatric data-driven approach to improve the identification and care of children at risk for suicide.

Children's Hospital Association (CHA) has partnered with Cardinal Health Foundation and the Zero Suicide Institute to award grants to children's hospitals and health systems to better care for children at risk for suicide.

Suicide is the second leading cause of death among young people 10-24 years old.

These grants provide support for children’s hospitals as they commit to system-wide transformation. Learning together accelerates progress and these hospitals are taking a data-driven approach to improvement. Early results from 16 participants show over 250,000 total screenings, resulting in over 38,000 positive screens. The suicide screening rate exceeded 70% of eligible patients. More than 70% of patients who screened positive were assessed to identify appropriate interventions.
